The specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery is unique. The scope of the specialty is extensive and includes the diagnosis and management of facial injuries, head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa such as mouth ulcers and infections.

COURSE DETAILS:

UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION IN OMFS:

Third and final year under graduate students are extensively trained in basic surgical skills related to exodontia and minor oral surgical procedures.

POST GRADUATE EDUCATION IN OMFS:

It prepares students for a career in teaching, research and practice in our speciality.

  • Professional honesty and integrity are to be fostered.
  • Treatment care is to be delivered irrespective of social status, cast, creed, and religion of the patients.
  • Develop an attitude to seek opinion from allied medical and dental specialities, as and when required.
  • Exposure to varied range of clinical cases and extensive practical training is provided.
  • Students are allowed to select their research topics which they to complete within 18 months of the course.
